Sustainability

Sustainability is improving the quality of life without compromising the earth for future generations.

President Maria Hesse was one of the first presidents to be a signatory of the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment.

CGCC has established 'Advancing Global Learning and Sustainability' as Strategic Goal number four for the years 2007 - 2012.

Green Initiative: CGCC facilities personnel are committed to sustainability in the planning and construction of buildings and in the operation of buildings. See the CGCC Sustainability Blog for information about GCCC's sustainability efforts.

At CGCC, sustainability is infused across the disciplines using a campus-wide theme of SEE Your World which focuses on the social, environmental and economic concerns of our local community and of the world.

CGCC has adopted the graduation pledge. At Graduation, students will wear green ribbons as their pledge of social and environmental commitments.

CGCC plays a major role in the Maricopa Community College District Sustainability Initiative

CGCC is committed to the efforts of Focus The Nation. Faculty dialog days are planned for this global climate change initiative. President Hesse was the sixth president nationwide to endorse the event and CGCC student club HEAT has also endorsed the event. CGCC faculty are hosting teach-ins on Jan 30th and 31, 2008. On January 30th, CGCC is hosting a political panel with round table discussions on "Focus the Nation; making climate change a national priority". Click here for more information.
