Service-Learning Resource Library
The resource collection of the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Service-Learning Program is available in the Service-Learning office for faculty, staff, and students with an interest in gaining a deeper understanding of the concept of Service-Learning. The selections explain methods for implementing Service-Learning in the classroom curriculum, the benefits of Service-Learning as an enhancement to the students' learning experience and the accomplishments of the Service-Learning Program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and other institutions. The collection includes:
- publications from national organizations involved with volunteerism and Service-Learning
- guidebooks from our program and the programs of other colleges
- faculty and student reflections on the Service-Learning experience
- course syllabi incorporating Service-Learning into the curriculum
- information on administering volunteer/service-learning programs.
Materials are divided into seven broad subject categories; each with its own single-letter code. A complete listing and descriptions of these categories can be found in the Categories section of this booklet. Each item is numbered in sequence within its subject category. The call number for each item is its category code paired with its sequential number:
- Administration/Support (A) - Materials focused on administrating a Service-Learning program or volunteer service organization.
- Course Syllabi (S) - Syllabi produced by Chandler-Gilbert Community College faculty utilizing Service-Learning in their classes, syllabi produced by faculty at other institutions, and samples of suggested syllabi utilizing a Service-Learning component.
- Faculty (F) - Subjects of interest to faculty, includes faculty reflections, information on the importance of Service-Learning in the curriculum and how it enhances the student learning experience and models used by faculty at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and at other colleges across the country.
- Program Guides (P) - Program guides produced at Chandler-Gilbert Community College or other institutions.
- Research (R) - Publications citing results of Service-Learning research projects.
- Volunteerism (V) - Publications produced by volunteer organizations, programs and agencies related to their administrative organizations, program guidelines and goals, sources of support, benefits to the public and other general information about volunteerism.
