New Student Orientation 

Spring 2010 Dates coming soon!

We want to congratulate you for pursuing your academic goals with Chandler-Gilbert Community College! Attending the New Student Orientation is your first vital step toward Starting Smart and becoming a successful college student. Students who are enrolled for 6 credits or more and classes are scheduled at CGCC Williams Campus, are highly encouraged to attend the orientation session at the Williams Campus.

Note:  To attend New Student Orientation, you must have registered for classes


New Students: To register for the New Student Orientation, log-on to your student center at http://my.maricopa.edu and under CGCC's Class Schedule, choose one of the following dates as you register for classes and add it to your class schedule:

All students will participate in an interactive campus tour, bring your Class Schedule. In addition, students will be able to obtain a FREE Parking Decal, bring vehicle information (i.e. Make, Model, Year, License Plate Number, etc.).

Locations: Check-in for each New Student Orientation session will begin 30 minutes prior to the start of scheduled time. For CGCC Pecos Campus, check-in at the Performing Arts Center (PAC Building). For CGCC Williams Campus, check-in at Engel Hall. Click here for CGCC maps.

Tips for College Success: Students' Top Ten Tips for Success at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. This top ten list was compiled mostly by students just like you. Following the advice on this list will greatly enhance your chances for success.

  1. Learn how to navigate through the college. Attend new student orientation and make sure you work with an academic advisor to plan your course schedule. 
  2. GO TO CLASS. Class attendance is a must!
  3. STUDY. Plan to spend a minimum of two hours on homework for each hour you spend in class. Make sure you understand and follow the course syllabus. Take advantage of the free tutoring in the Learning Center.
  4. Get to know your faculty. Visit them during office hours; talk with them outside of class. 
    Learn how to set academic, personal and career goals. If you need help with this, make an appointment with a career counselor or meet with an academic advisor. 
  5. GET INVOLVED on campus. Contact Student Life to learn about all of the fun opportunities with clubs and organizations.
  6. Take some risks and try new things, you might like it! 
  7. Get to know someone with a different background than your own. 
  8. Get to know well at least one staff member on campus. 
  9. If you need help funding your college education, see the staff in the financial aid office.
