America Reads/America Counts

Through the America Reads/America Counts Program students are employed as reading or math tutors to preschool through elementary age children at local schools. Background checks are required. The program can help Chandler-Gilbert Community College and its students initiate positive changes on campus and in the community. This program offers students a way to meet two important goals: working to help pay for their educational expenses while participating in activities to help the local community. Moreover, tutor-student relationships that are formed through the program can help inspire elementary students to make higher education a long-term goal.

Our communities reap the benefits of the America Reads/America Counts program as well. Tutors help combat the literacy problem that is so prominent in out society today. In addition, they can provide individual assistance that would otherwise not be available.
