Early Alert
Chandler-Gilbert Community College is committed to the success of all our students by providing an environment conducive to teaching, learning, and overall personal growth. This student-centered program focuses on students who may be experiencing academic and/or personal difficulties. It is a collaborative college wide effort among the management, faculty, staff, and students. Awareness of existing and potential student problems is seen as the backbone to a strong retention program. CGCC's faculty and staff are proactive, supportive, and committed to our students' overall success. The Early Alert Retention and Success Program was designed to provide: early detection and intervention, assessment and support, connection and resources. A team of skilled and licensed professionals provide a full range of direct intervention and support services.
The overall goal is early identification, assessment, and intervention of students who may benefit from these support services:
- Crisis Intervention and Management
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Short-term Individual and Group Support Services
- Mental Health Education and Training
- Skill Development Training
Reasons students are referred:
- Experiencing academic or personal difficulties that interfere with classroom success
- Exhibiting poor attitude or behavior that warrants concern
- Knowledge of personal or family issues
- In need of campus or community referral or resources
Procedure:
- Identify students in need
- Access and submit Faculty or Staff Student Referral Form through:
- Student Support Services Home Page, or
- CGCC Home Page, click on Faculty & Staff link, or
- CGCC Home Page, utilizing the Search box and typing in Early Alert
- Students will be contacted within 72 hours for an appointment with a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC)
- A BHC will meet with student to identify referral concerns and provide support
- Together the student and BHC will develop an action plan for success
- BHC's will maintain communication with the referring faculty or staff member through the Early Alert System
- If a BHC makes a campus referral the identified person or department will receive ntoification of every referral through email
- It is the student's responsibility to follow through with any referral provided
- Upon closing the student file the originating referral source will receive notice
