Student Support Services
A diverse team of licensed professionals, Behavioral Health Consultants (BHC's), meet the needs of CGCC's diverse student population by providing a wide range of support services. Available interventions and support services may include: short-term, individual, or group sessions, campus and/or community referrals and resources, as well as crisis management.
Early Alert Retention & Success Program
This program is a collaborative college wide effort in which faculty and staff identify and refer students that may be experiencing academic and/or personal difficulties. These students benefit from early detection, intervention, support, and campus or community referrals and resources. Student referral forms are location on the Student Support & Transition Services home web page. Questions concerning how to make a referral or about this retention and success program should be directed to the Student Support & Tranistion Services Department (SS&TS).
Disability Resources & Services (DRS)
This program provides access and supoprt to students who have a documented disability according the the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
The DRS staff provides:
- Advocacy & Mediation
- Academic and personal support services
- Intervention and support to assist with skill building
- Identify and approve all classroom and campus accommodations
- Assist students with integrating into campus life
In order to receive DRS support services, advocacy, or accommodations students must:
- Identify their disability to the DRS Office
- Register and update DRS forms each semester
- Provide current and appropriate documentation
- Request accommodations and complete the Instructor Notification process
- Communicate directly with DRS staff any concerns, needs, or changes
These DRS services support student retention and success. The DRS staff is also responsible for educating and monitoring campus compliance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
