The Certificate of Completion in Crime and Intelligence Analysis is designed to prepare students to apply the strategies and techniques that constitute the art and science of crime and intelligence analysis in a criminal justice environment. The certificate will also provide opportunities for law enforcement personnel to enhance their professional knowledge and skills in these areas. The program includes the three types of crime analysis; gathering and analyzing crime data for crime trend, pattern, or series detection; the intelligence cycle and the utilization of analytical tools such as telephone toll analysis, flow analysis, link analysis, visual investigative analysis and time event chartering.; crime analysis statistics for forecasting and predicting crime trends and series and statistical analysis using computer software; and using ArcView Geographic Information System (GIS) software to perform crime and intelligence analysis functions and presenting information in the form of maps, bulletins and charts.
