Junior Kayla Poe (pictured, Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) scored on a header from freshman Sasha Scott (West Hills, Calif./El Camino Real) assist to give Grand Canyon University a 1-0 victory over Dominican University in a Pacific West Conference contest at GCU Soccer Complex Sunday.
GCU got back to .500 both overall and in the PacWest. The Lopes are 8-8-2 and 5-5-2.
Junior goalkeeper Nicole Fares (Claremont, Calif./Mountain View) earned the shutout victory. She replaced junior Mileena Buchei (Stansbury, Utah/Grantsville), who was injured during pregame warm-ups.

Cassie Waz
Personal: Cassie comes to us from Red Mountain HS where she's received 3 Varsity Letters in Soccer and 4 Varsity Letters in Track. She was the Captain of her Soccer Team her Senior Year. In 2006-07 and 2007-08, she was the MV Sprinter for RM Track. She took 3rd in 200m Dash Track in 2008. In 2006-07 and 2007-08, her soccer teams were Region Champs and All Region Tourney. In 2005-06 she took 3rd in State for the Girls 4x1m relay. Cassie plans to major in Kineseology and become a Physical Therapist. She enjoys wakeboarding, video games, snowboarding, camping, paintball, and anything active outdoors.
