OUTFIELDER TYLER HOLLICK NAMED NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

A First for Chandler Gilbert Community College's Baseball Program

CHANDLER, Ariz. – July 23, 2012--Chandler-Gilbert Community College's (CGCC) Tyler Hollick was recently named 'Division II Baseball Player of the Year' by the National Junior College Athletic Association, a first for the  CGCC Coyotes Baseball Program.

Hollick, a sophomore outfielder, lead the DII ranks in on-base percentage (.605), ranked third in batting average (.475) and second in stolen bases (61). In addition,  he stole 61 bases in 67 attempts for a .910 average, which ranked second nationally as did his 53 walks.

A native of Calagary-Alberta, Canada, Hollick joined the Coyotes in 2010, and has received numerous awards under the direction of CGCC Head Baseball Coach Russell Luce including: American Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year and Division II First Team All-American.

"We at CGCC are extremely proud of Tyler and all of his well deserved accomplishments," said Russell. "He was a pleasure to coach the past two years, and watch transform into a dynamite ball player. Tyler's work ethic, character and will to win as well as his ability to be a team-mate have been unmatched in our program. We wish him nothing but the best on his future career and academic endeavors."

Hollick has signed a letter of intent to finish his academic and collegiate baseball career at Ohio State University. He also was drafted in the 14th round (448th overall selection) of this year’s MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
