Coyotes Jump on Scottsdale Community College Early and Coasts to 8-0 Win

Coyotes beat Scottsdale Community College 8-0 in five innings on Saturday at Home after a five-run explosion in the first inning. Coyotes' Kaitlyn Greco kept Scottsdale Community College off the scoreboard for all five innings she toed the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on only two hits. Hannah Bapst, Katelyn Tripp, Taylor Tometich, and Sienna Martinez all collected hits for Coyotes. Bapst led the team with two hits. The Coyotes piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  A clutch run scored by pinch runner Kaylee Bordes started the frame.  That was followed up by a fielder's choice that scored shortstop Heather Shomperlen. 
The game was called due to run rule after five innings of play.   

Paradise Valley CC falls 8-1 at the Hands of The Coyotes
The
Coyotes pounded Paradise Valley CC on Saturday 8-1 at Home in seven innings. The Coyotes scored three runs in the fifth on a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Katie Harvil. Alexandra Vela racked up three RBIs on three hits for Coyotes. Vela doubled in the second and third innings and singled in the sixth inning. Jennifer Hudson took home the win on the strength of seven solid innings. Hudson allowed just 4 hits and 1 earned run. The Coyotes never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Elizabeth Deem.

Men's Basketball
The Chandler-Gilbert Community College Men’s Basketball Team improved to 12-10 on Saturday, after they faced Tohono O’Odham Community College. The Coyotes had overcome a sloppy first half to finish off a 104-71 win at home. Leading the way for The Coyotes was Sophomore Forward Devirous Johnson who had 15 points and 13 rebounds; Johnell Thompson led The Coyotes in scoring and assists with 26 points and 10 assists respectively. Andrew Kelly also put in 11 points and 12 rebounds. After a first half that saw The Coyotes lead 43-32, the Coyotes came out and outscored Tohono O’Odham 61-39 in the second half. The Coyotes received a huge boost from their bench as James Zuccaro pumped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.  The Coyotes open up next week on the road against Mesa Community College on Wednesday February 1, 2012 at 7:30pm. They then return home for their rematch against Cochise College on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 4:00pm.
