| Final stages of document imaging request for proposal (RFP) project is due for a recommendation by December. This project will adopt technology as a solution to manage and improve paper processing and workflow capabilities for Financial Aid as the initial target related to the Seamless Student Experience. The expectation is students will have multiple methods for submitting documents online, email, fax, or by scanning documents as they interact with various college services. This technology offers capabilities to dramatically reduce paper handling, speed processing, and enables documents to be captured once and shared across multiple departments.

| Plans are underway with architects and building contractors to design the technical infrastructure for the new Coyote Center. Projected investment for technology according to educational specification is over 1.1 million dollars. This building will serve as the front door to the college in location, appearance, and function. It will provide a range of services for new and continuing students ranging from admissions and enrollment to advising as well as a gymnasium and athletic performance. Final design development specifications are due by end of Sept with actual ground breaking planned for Spring 2013.

Campus wireless changes: New and improved features for our college wireless network are now available at all three campuses. The changes eliminate previous activation steps to register equipment and will support employees, students, or guest level access. Employees and Students will have access to a wireless network named " mcccd-org" that requires login using the standard MEID and password adopted as the single sign-on approach for all Chandler Gilbert technology resources. This change will also enable any Maricopa student or employee to gain authorized access to our wireless network. This is a big deal and the first college in Maricopa to provide open access for authorized employees and students.
Community members and campus visitors will also now have limited access to our college wireless "guest" network. Access will be available in specific buildings by campus/location where we tend to experience the most visitor traffic Library, Enrollment Services, Computer Labs, Student Life, and Cafeteria locations.

Several technology projects are underway that involve the adoption of technology to support the Seamless Student Experience. All of these projects are researching technical solutions that will be implemented as consistent products and services for all colleges in Maricopa. Initially these projects will embrace technology that will impact a specific Enrollment Services department, but will be scalable to improve services for other departments around campus. The following are examples of projects that are currently in the planning and execution phases.
- Single identity/sign-on to provide a consistent method of access (MEID and password) for enterprise systems.
- Document imaging to provide digital capture technology with a common searchable index for Financial Aid transactions
- Self Service initiative focusing on My.Maricopa.edu website redesign to improve web access to common student information
- Knowledge base for front line staff with known solutions to better serve students (Spring 2013)
Most of these projects have a critical milestone for implementation targets of December 2012, so we should expect by Spring time frame we will begin to see the impact and results of these initiatives in Enrollment Services.

Kudos to the web team with collaboration from Media Services, Marketing, and TSS departments. This project involved converting over 1500 web pages to a dynamic new and improved color, layout, and navigation style. This concludes a major content design and migration effort which started back in early Spring. The project will continue to develop new content pages and create additional features such as mobile friendly presentation through the Fall semester.

CGCC is transitioning from the existing employee email system to the Google email and calendaring system on June 8, 2012. Prior to the June 8 cut-over, there are pre-migration steps that all employees need to take in order to ensure successful migration of all of your email from your existing account to your new Google email account. Faculty are encouraged to attend a 90 minute training prior to leaving for the semester to learn how to perform these pre-migration steps.
The following three training sessions will be offered to faculty:
Friday, April 27: 1 - 2:30 p.m. in BRD123A
Friday, April 27: 1- 2:30 p.m. BRD124
Friday, April 27: 3 - 4:30 p.m. in BRD 124 |
| Congratulations to our own Micheal Berry who represents CGC as a member of the District IT Innovation of the Year!
Project Summary: The CIMS project represents the foundation that enables all faculty, staff, and students to access Enterprise applications, such as SIS, Blackboard, GoogleApps, My.maricopa.edu, etc., on a daily basis. It helps to enhance student success by facilitating access to our core applications. CIMS helps Maricopa reduce maintenance effort and support issues for over 140,000 user accounts every semester, significantly increasing the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of our services |
| A critical milestone has been accomplished. Chandler Gilbert is one of only two colleges in Maricopa to eliminate legacy phone system. We now are totally IP voice which is among the top 25% among higher education institutions. Congratulations to Mike Berry along with Scott Leonard who provided leadership for this multi-year project. |
