Dr. Diane Chaddock - Dr. Diane Chaddock Resume.pdf
Dr. Diane Chaddock has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Southwestern Michigan College for the past nine years. In this role she serves as the chief academic officer with direct responsibility for the instructional and academic support divisions of the college. As Chief Operating Officer, she also provides leadership and coordination for all cross divisional activities. Under her leadership, Southwestern Michigan College has implemented a culture of continuous quality improvement anchored in the college goals of quality, student success and service to the community. The success of this culture change is evidenced by the current ranking of the college in the top 5% of the nation in student course success and the top 2% of the nation in student transfer success as well as by record high enrollments.
Prior to entering the field of higher education, Dr. Chaddock worked as a medical health professional. She began her twenty six year career in higher education in 1984 as a faculty member at several community colleges in the Midwest region. While at Southwestern Michigan College, Dr. Chaddock served as Math/Science Department Chair and Instructor of Human Anatomy and Physiology from 1990 to 1998. She then served as Dean of Arts and Sciences until 2001 when she began her tenure as Vice President.
Dr. Chaddock has a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts in Science Education from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the State of New York. She has published numerous articles on outcomes assessment and is also a frequent presenter on issues in higher education. Her book, “Wildflowers of the Dunes” was written out of a personal interest in plant life and the environment.
A product of a community college education herself, Dr. Chaddock is committed to the mission of the community college both personally and professionally. She earned her bachelor’s degree and her graduate degrees as an adult and parent, while working full-time. She has two children, both graduates of the community college and her husband serves as the Senior Vice President of Planning and Advancement at a community college. Dr. Chaddock has two grown children, both of whom are educators, and two grandchildren. Her daughter’s family resides in the Phoenix area.
