Introduction
The primary objective of this master planning update is to review both past and
present master plans, collect data relevant to current enrollment needs, and to
project that to the year 2013.
This study was carried out for the Maricopa County Community College District
(MCCCD) as part of a system-wide effort to update master plans for all community
colleges in the District. The District intends to submit a bond issue to the
voters in 2004 in order to fund a portion of the construction required on all
the campuses as described in the master plans.
Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) has two existing conceptual plans
(Williams and Sun Lakes) and one master plan (Pecos) for its three campuses.
These were based on population projections that have been found to be much lower
than actual population growth. The goal of this effort was to review each of
the existing master plans to determine whether or not they could accommodate
the educational requirements of the revised population projected for the year
2013. The design intent of each was retained so far as was sensible.
