Williams Campus Expands to Meet Student Needs

As enrollment numbers at Chandler-Gilbert Community College continue to rise, the anticipated completion of a new building at the college’s Williams Campus in Mesa brings with it the promise of increased support services and the ability to accommodate a growing number of students in the Southeast Valley.

Williams Campus Provost John Schroeder says that the construction of Bridget Hall, which is scheduled for completion later this fall, is vital in order to keep pace with the campus’ continued growth.

“Bridget Hall is going to be a beautiful building which will provide important services to our students, such as a Library, Computer Commons, food service, and a bookstore,” Schroeder said. “This facility will include tutoring spaces and inviting spots for students to gather and study or just get together with friends.”

CGCC Mascot Gets a Face Lift

The CGCC Coyote mascot is getting a face lift!

The original CGCC Coyote was created in 1997 in partnership with CGCC Athletics, Student Life, and college faculty, and featured a howling Coyote silhouette, surrounded by the CGCC sunburst. The updated mascot has a sleek new look, featuring the college colors of teal and silver, and a fierce new attitude.

President's Community Advisory Council Member Profile: Kathy Tilque

Members of CGCC's President's Community Advisory Council (PCAC) provide information and ideas to the college that reflect community perspectives.

Each month, we will feature a current member of the PCAC. This month, we are pleased to introduce Kathy Tilque, the President & CEO of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce.

Q. How long have you served in your current position as President & CEO at the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and what are your duties?
A. I’ve been with the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce for 14 years, and I serve as a community liaison, lobbyist, business advocate, and CEO of the Chamber.

Q. How long have you served on the CGCC President's Community Advisory Council and why do you feel it's important to serve on this Council?

A. I have served on CGCC's President's Community Advisory Council for 14 years. I believe that community involvement allows the college to best understand the needs of the community. This has been a critical component in CGCC’s success of developing new programs to meet the needs of businesses, residents, and students. CGCC continues to be held up as a model for others -- a college that can quickly assess the needs, pull the resources together, and develop quality programs. I’m so proud of how our community college not only brings in the community (including its students and faculty) to identify key needs, but they also encourage their own employees to be active in the community.
