CGCC Celebrates 19th Commencement Ceremony

The 2010 CGCC Commencement Ceremonies will be held on the evening of Friday, May 14, on the CGCC Pecos Campus on the Mall in front of the Performing Arts Center.

An evening of celebration is planned to honor students and their families, and to recognize the hard work and dedication that it took for students to earn their degrees and certificates.

A reception with music and refreshments will be held for students and their families prior to the ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Pavilion. The formal ceremony will begin at 8 p.m., with CGCC Faculty Senate President Dr. Regi Munro leading the faculty and graduates. CGCC All-Arizona Academic Scholar Alexandra Cannell was selected to address fellow graduates during the ceremony.

CGCC, NAU Partner to Offer Business Administration Degree

Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Northern Arizona University are expanding their partnership to include a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. This degree program will allow students to complete their first two years of study at CGCC, and then transfer to NAU to complete the last two years of their coursework - all without leaving CGCC’s Pecos campus.

Deanna Hughes, Program Coordinator for the NAU CGCC Campus, said that this collaborative effort offers students the option to earn their BBA degree from NAU without having to move to Flagstaff.

“We strongly encourage students to complete their Associate’s degree at CGCC for their 100-200 level classes (64 credits), and then they’ll be ready to start the NAU program of 300-400 level classes (56 credits),” Hughes said. “The class sizes will be capped at no more than 30, so that students will have that personal attention and the opportunity to get to know their classmates.”

Register Now for Summer & Fall Classes

Record numbers of students are enrolling for summer and fall classes at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

New classes and certificate and degree programs in high demand areas, coupled with tuition rates of less than one-third of Arizona’s three state universities continue to draw students entering college for the first time and students returning to college for retraining.

“We encourage students to register now so that they can get the classes they need at the times they need them,” said CGCC Coordinator of Enrollment Services, Ryan Cain.
