 President's Welcome

Dear Students, Community Members, and Friends,

Welcome or welcome back! I am Dr. Linda Lujan, Interim President of Chandler-Gilbert Community College. It is my deepest honor to have been asked to serve CGCC and you this year. Please join me in bidding a fond farewell and best wishes to our outgoing president, Dr. Maria Hesse, who is now Vice Provost of Community College Relations at ASU.

In my short time at CGCC, I have learned many things, but the most important is this -- CGCC is a wonderful college, and we care passionately about our students, their success, and meeting the higher education and workforce training needs of our communities.

Online, Afternoon, and Evening Classes Offer Students Flexibility

As Chandler-Gilbert Community College gears up for a busy fall semester, the college is making it a priority to meet the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students.

“We realize that many of our students are busy with full-time jobs, family commitments or personal goals that don't allow time to take classes during the traditional school day,” said William Guerriero, CGCC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Helping students meet their educational goals is our mission and one way we can do that is by offering flexible class scheduling.”

 CGCC Helps Train GI’s

Soldiers stationed throughout the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S. are powering up their laptops and making education a priority – some in preparation for life after the military, while others will use what they learn to enhance their military career.

More than 80 online training courses are now available to U.S. Army soldiers as the result of a partnership between Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Gatlin Education, and the Army Vocational/Technical (AVOTEC) Soldier Program.

Sergeant First Class Sheri Simmons, a transportation/ logistics coordinator who has been stationed in Iraq for more than a year, recently enrolled in the “Nutrition for Optimal Health” program.
