The regular season opened at home yesterday against the 8th ranked Yavapai Roughriders.  The Coyotes got away early with a first half goal from Jake Coking ending the half with a 1-0 lead.  In the second half Anton Zupic scored the game winner with 9 minutes left on a header from Pedro Garcia.  Our keeper, Jacob Faircloth had an amazing start to the season with double digit saves in  goal while leading the defense who would not give up in to the late push by the Roughriders.

Richie Esperti wins his first college game as a head coach against a heated rival on his home pitch.  Assumedly announcing that the Men’s team will be a force in the ACCAC under his direction.  This is also a first win for his First Assistant Scott Ikeda who is an ACCAC alum as a player.

Statement made.  Well done boys, well done.

The Womens soccer team opened the regular season against Cochise College at home under the lights.  Jon Berzins and his staff Matt Smith, Kevin Chavez and Brett Meskill continued their run as a team that is always in the playoff mix.  The game highlights include goals by Korina Biascoechea, Hanna Anhder, Cassidy Morris and Marisa Costagliola with assists from Dani Milan, Savannah Gloria and Carlie Watson.

Our Keeper Amanda Witherow put up a shut out in her first appearance of the season with quality play and a very clean backline that hardly let a shot on goal.  Amanda only had 2 saves, that seams low against a quality Cochise club, but it speaks to very organized defense.

Well done Ladies.  Winning at home is essential in this very tough ACCAC conference schedule.

The next games are this Saturday at home against Arizona Western College.  The Men kick off at 4:30pm and the Women kick off at 7:00pm.  The gate is $5 for adults, $3 for Senior and free for Students with a school ID and kids under 12.
