Bomb Threat /Suspicious Package
Bomb Threat in work area or classroom:
Threat by telephone
- Do not hang up the telephone.
- Signal to an associate / student to notify Public Safety at 480-732-7280 (Pecos) or 480-988-8888 (Williams) and wait for safety personnel.
- Document caller information via Bomb Threat Checklist below.
- Wait for safety personnel.
Suspicious Packages, Mail etc.
- Do not handle the suspicious package.
- Contact Public Safety at 480-732-7280 (Pecos) or 480-988-8888 (Williams) and follow safety personnel instructions.
- Secure the immediate area.
- Be cautious of:
- Foreign mail, airmail, and special deliveries.
- Restrictive marking such as "Confidential" or "Personal."
- Misspelling of common words.
- Oily stains or discoloration on package.
- Rigid, lopsided, or uneven envelopes.
- Protruding wires or tin foil.
- No return address.
- Excessive tape or string.
Evacuation of work area / classroom (within 30 minutes of suspected explosion)
- Check work area / classroom for any suspicious packages.
- Evacuate work area /classroom.
- Do not touch the suspicious package, if found.
- Close and leave office door unlocked.
- Notify other work area personnel of the situation and have them evacuate their area.
- Proceed to an assembly area approximately 500 feet upwind from the nearest building.
- Notify Public Safety personnel about any suspicious packages in the work area / classroom.
- Wait for further instructions from Public Safety personnel.
