Earthquakes 


If you are in a work area or classroom experiencing the effects of an earthquake:

  • Stay inside, away from windows and objects that can fall.
  • Have students / staff take cover under a desk or table.
  • Remain calm and prepare for aftershocks.
  • Render first aid to injured personnel / students.
  • Do not move injured personnel / students unless absolutely necessary.
  • Do not use telephones, matches, or lighters.
  • Open doors carefully and watch for falling debris.
  • Move staff / students to an open area away from trees, buildings, and power lines.
  • Wait for additional information from safety personnel.
