Phi Theta Kappa hosts Satellite Series #3, "Subordinating Corporate Commercialism to the Sovereignty of the People," presented by Ralph Nader on Monday, November 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in room SC140 on the Pecos Campus.

Nader drew a record studio audience for this presentation on the need to return power now held by U.S. corporations to the public. According to Nader, such a move would lead to free universal health care, free higher education, and improved child care, and would increase citizens’ involvement in government.

Ralph Nader is an internationally-known consumer advocate who was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Americans in the 20th century.   Nader’s efforts to raise public awareness of consumer problems influenced millions of citizens to become advocates for solutions.  He is largely responsible for the
creation of laws, regulatory agencies and national standards that have improved the quality of life for generations of Americans, especially in issues related to product safety, the environment, clean water and health.
