Listen to understand Maricopa Trainer Program-is a comprehensive program for training curriculum which is modularized and offered through the Technology Program. It was developed for the new PeopleSoft rollout and it is understood that the 1st session is by invitation. Paula Yslas would be the contact for further information. February Diversity Presentation-Rory Gilbert, our new District Diversity Coordinator shared a bit of her background with the group. She leaves the private sector as a director and counselor to join MCCCD. She informed the group that there are a variety of programs available which deal with different aspects of discrimination. A few options were discussed. It was decided that the program for the college would be two-fold and involve people exploration. The main focus will be to raise awareness to any possible hidden discrimination and incorporate a skills piece that will relate to awareness-raising information. The length of the presentation is estimated to last approximately 2 hours. Date and time availabilities were discussed. The preferred date of 02/24 from 2-4 pm in SC 140-144 was confirmed. An alternate date would be 02/23. Caryl will plan on attending the next EDT meeting to finalize any details that may need to be addressed. Navigate Maricopa-Emily Weinacker presented the group with a Navigate Maricopa stamp that is to be used in conjunction with the passports. This stamp can be given for attendance and completion of some achievement that CGCC specifically assigns. For instance, one of the other colleges has chosen the MCCCD Ethics Workshop. Instant Recognition-The nomination form edits, minor edits to the instant recognition program descriptors and website work are being worked on by Barbara Green. Barbara sent out an e-mail to the group regarding the website and is looking for feedback. Sandi has updated the core value recap and sent it to Barbara per her request. EDT is on the 04/05 PEC agenda to present the instant recognition program and will provide a brief overview to PEC on 02/04/05. Arrangements are currently being made to hold an additional EDT meeting on 3/31. Upon confirmation of the location, notice will be sent out to the group. Sherri Basha is checking with Audree Thurman on how to store and retrieve reward & recognition information and possible documentation. The name of the program and the method of how the recognition will be published were then discussed. An idea of a pendent hanging from the keystone may lead us to symbols or phrases related to gems or jewels, diamond in the rough, or similar thoughts. Additional ideas for the name of the program and/or name of the award are as follows: Capture the Connection, Catch the Connection, You are Valued; Caught you Peaking; You are the Key; You Rock; Rock On; Youve been Key-Stoned, Creating the Connection, The Wedgie Award. Points of consideration posted were: Value, Archway, Core, Support, Wedge, and Connection. Suggestions to announce award recipients were: sending a postcard (with perhaps the arch or keystone on it) with a note of congratulations, send an e-mail to each award recipient with the link to the website listing the achievement(s), and list the recipients in the Courier or Connection. Final decisions to be determined at further meeting(s). Scribes notes-Post meeting: Emily Weinacker sent an e-mail advising that additional brainstorming led to the idea of Keystone Cops where a person could issue tickets to honor those who have been nominated. When you introduce the idea, EVERYONE could get a sticker of a star since they will be the "cops". This would have widespread impact and focus on the "keystone" concept. Additional thoughts via e-mail were Got Connected; Straight to the Point; Point Performance; and Peak Performance. NEXT MEETING: February 03, 2005 2:30 pm 4:00 pm Location: B168
