This is in response to the accreditation visiting teams recommendation about communicating with and recognizing our employees. MAT recognized progress in this area through things such as orientation and Courier items. EDT was asked to seek feedback from a variety of employees to determine rewards that motivate a variety of employees. Ex: recruiting staff fun environment; Bill Mullaney - and the Red I awards. There was a collaborative learning activity (Jigsaw) held in the library a few years back. This type of activity could assist employee rewards. Check on best practices with other departments that recognize such as when M. Rudibaugh chaired the division. Think of plans similar to the retirement plan which provides inclusion and emphasis at the department level. Take inventory of what makes a person feel needed. Grow the management to know to recognize their employees. Create a tool kit for the manager. A suggestion to focus on the servant/leadership model was offered. This will be discussed further at upcoming meetings. Bed Nets-Hand outs were giving on the Malarial Bed Net project. Information was given about the history of this Quick Fix project, Rick Reilly, Sr. Writer for Sports Illustrated starting the project, its connection to the United Nations, and the involvement of other departments on campus. CGCC is the first college to get involved and 100% of the donations go the cause. Heather and Kim wanted to bring this information to EDT to see if there was a way to involve the employees in this cause. This fund raising activity appears to be more of an employee group level involvement. Perhaps EDT could assist to facilitate getting the word out to the various employee groups. The goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of spring semester. It is Kim and Heathers hope that this is a creative and collaborative experience for everyone. An employee can donate in a variety of ways but if an employee could donate through the online methods, the Gates Foundation will match funds. EOLT Spring Course Offerings at CGCC-A schedule was handed out and assignments were divided. The assigned person would be responsible for marketing, refreshments (Aramark), room set-up, and host the facilitator. Margie will check with Sandi to see if the room reservations and facility sheets have been done. 2/15-MP: Intro to Doc & Correcting Performance Mesanko 2/16-MOSAIC IA-Yost 2/23-MOSAIC IB-Yost 3/01-LI: Employment Law Essentials Mesanko 3/23-MOSAIC IIA-Smith 3/30-MOSAIC IIB-Lien 4/13-MOSAIC IIIA-Basha 4/20-MOSAIC IIIB-Larson 4/27-Improving Trust in Your Work Relationships-Bartel 6/07-Six Thinking Hats-TBA June??-Movin On Up-TBA Minute Taking-Sandi will continue taking notes for the spring semester.
