Fall 2009 All-Employee Meeting


Welcome to the fall 2009 semester!  The fall All-Employee Meeting was held on Monday, August 17.  We encourage employees who were unable to attend to view the attached PowerPoint.  Please also welcome the recently hired employees who are profiled below when you see them around campus!
 
 

 Welcome New Employees!

Dr. Linda Lujan

Before coming to CGCC to serve as interim President, Linda Lujan served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at South Mountain Community College from July 2005 through June 2009.   Preceding her move to Arizona, Lujan served eight years in administrative roles in Colorado’s community college system, including four years as an academic dean at the Community College of Denver, a multi-campus Hispanic-serving institution, where she had oversight for all the operations of the Center for Business and Technology and the Center for Health Sciences, as well as Performance Solutions, the corporate training and workforce development unit (2001-2005).  Prior to that, she served four years at Arapahoe Community College, a suburban institution in Littleton, Colorado, as Coordinator and Director of Educational Technology (1998-2001).  Before becoming an administrator, Lujan, who started her community college career as an adjunct faculty member, also served as a full-time faculty member and department chair of the computer science and information systems department for 13 years at Arapahoe Community College (1984-1998).

Lujan’s guiding principle is “make a difference”, and she is an unabashed community college advocate who proudly states, “American’s community colleges make a significant difference in the lives of students and their communities.”

Ron Etter

Ron Etter will serve as interim Vice President of Administrative Services at CGCC for the next year. 


Ron has 32 years of experience in finance and administration from the Maricopa County Community Colleges. Prior to joining CGCC as interim Vice President, Ron served as the Vice President for Administrative Services at Mesa Community College and had financial responsibilities at the District Office, Rio Salado, and Phoenix College.  While at MCC he had oversight for operational and capital budgeting and strategic planning, as well as significant involvement in facilities, public safety, risk management, and purchasing.


Ron holds a Masters degree in Adult and Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Arizona State University.


A Certified Desert Landscaper from Desert Botanical Gardens, he enjoys being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.



Mardy Coronado


Mardy Coronado now serves as CGCC’s new Curriculum Tech.  Mardy has been with the Maricopa Community College District for 19 years, starting in 1989 when she worked as an Admissions and Records Tech at Phoenix College. For the past 10+ years, she has been working in the capacity of Curriculum Tech, primarily with the class schedule.  Mardy’s role at CGCC will be working on the class schedule and catalog.  


In her free time, Mardy enjoys spending time with my family, camping, gardening, and crocheting.

Jessica Dwork

Jessica Dwork was recently hired as a Nursing Faculty at CGCC's Williams campus.  This role includes direct classroom, lab, and clinical interactions with students and collaboration with numerous faculty members in the nursing department.

Her previous experience includes Nursing Faculty at Rio Salado Community College, Nursing Laboratory Coordinator at Mesa Community College, and Registered Nurse at Scottsdale Healthcare.

In her free time, Jessica likes to take dance lessons with her husband, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.

Manny Gutiérrez


Manny Gutiérrez now serves as a CGCC Student Service Specialist—Academic Advisement, catalyzing student persistence by helping them create pathways to success.


He has served a wide variety of students and faculty at four different Maricopa Community Colleges—South Mountain, Scottsdale, Gateway, and now CGCC.  He has experienced both one-stop and traditional advisement environments and has worked with students through recruitment, financial aid, testing, fiscal, and career planning.


Manny, along with his wife, co-founded TropicalVibes in 2005—a professional salsa dance company bringing the dance, music, and art of salsa to a sophisticated audience both locally and worldwide.  Manny has traveled Western Europe, Australia, and México and enjoys the international travel scene.

Rita Haman


Rita Haman came to CGCC as an OYO Clinical Nursing Faculty in November of 2008, and recently accepted a full-time Residential Faculty position at CGCC.  She received here Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Education from Walden University.  She is also a member of the Walden International Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau.


In her free time, Rita, enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and traveling.

Donna Lehman

Donna Lehman now serves as the adult / veteran career advisor in the CGCC Career Services Office. She helps students identify and pursue educational career opportunities that best represent their passions, strengths, and goals. 

Donna came to CGCC from Scottsdale Community College, where she served for 7 years as the Adult Re-entry Coordinator. Most recently she served as the Student Success Initiative Coordinator, and developed the Early Alert Program for SCC. Prior to working within Maricopa, she worked as an educational analyst for the Arizona Board of Regents.  She also served as the director of the summer bridge program at the University of WI-La Crosse, and taught as an associate lecturer in the College of Education for 5 years.

In her free time, Donna enjoys spending time with her husband Brian, traveling, and spending time with her family in California.

Cassandra Nolan


Cassandra Nolan came to CGCC as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the Nursing Program in August 2006.  Prior to coming to CGCC, she worked with the USPHS-IHS for 20 years and retired in 2005.  Cassandra recently accepted a full-time residential faculty position at CGCC.   


In her free time, Cassandra enjoys spending time with her son and traveling.

Brenna Peck


Brenna Peck serves as the Disability Resources and Services Specialist, providing accommodations, enrollment services, and support services to CGCC students with documented disabilities.


Brenna began working as an intern at CGCC with Student Support and Transition Services in 2007. In 2007, she also started working for the ACE PLUS Program, providing on going support for disadvantaged high school students.


In her free time, Brenna enjoys watching Arizona sports teams and loves to play Fantasy Football.

Omar Perez


Omar Perez was recently hired at CGCC as a Financial Aid Technician III, where he provides college financing options to CGCC students.  


His past work experience includes serving as a Scholarship Coordinator at Mesa Community College; coordinating the Federal Work Study Program at Phoenix College; and serving as the Financial Aid Coordinator at the Maricopa Skill Center.  Omar also worked for Sallie Mae as the Community Outreach Manager, coordinating early outreach programs and corporate scholarships for college-bound students.


In his free time, Omar likes to spend time with his wife and kids, golfing, and the great outdoors.

 Dolores Urbieta


Dolores Urbieta is a new residential math faculty member at CGCC.  Dolores was a Mathematics Instructional Specialist with ASU for seven years, specializing in developmental mathematics. She then became an independent program consultant for ASU and developed several community projects, including the ASU Astronomy Fair for young students.  Urbieta also served as a mathematics adjunct faculty member at South Mountain Community College for four years. 


Dolores, her husband, and their four children enjoy going to Young, Arizona, and “working the land.”
