EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
There are many exciting part-time and full-time employment opportunities at Chandler Gilbert Community College and within the Maricopa Community Colleges. The processes for learning about and applying for these jobs is different, depending on the type of position.
Current Openings at CGCC:
Student Jobs
Student employment is coordinated through the Financial Aid Office. Wages usually run from $7.50 per hour to $9.00 per hour or more, depending on the department, type of work, and the experience or skills required, for up to 20 hours per week.
"Work-study" positions generally involve the student working in a college department for up to 20 hours per week. This is a federally subsidized program, so students must meet guidelines which are available at the Financial Aid Office in order to be eligible for these positions.
"Budget" positions are similar to"work-study" positions in that students usually work in a college department, but the department must supply the budget to hire the student.
Part-Time Work
College offices and departments hire temporary part-time employees for a semester or longer, or for shorter durations to help with special projects. The type of positions available varies greatly from maintenance help for special projects, to secretarial/clerical support in offices, to tutors. There is no formal system for "advertising" these part-time positions - when needs arise, a department will review the materials for people who have indicated an interest. If you are interested in these positions, it is important for you to make your interest known to the people who work in those areas, providing them with your resume and a letter of interest. As positions become available, they will call people to discuss the possibilities further.
Adjunct Faculty
If you are interested in teaching part-time for CGCC, please review the state requirements at the MCCCD employment website http://www.maricopa.edu/hrweb/adjunct.php and then send a letter of interest, your resume, and transcripts to the division chair for the academic discipline in which you are interested. At the time of hire as an adjunct by MCCCD, a person who has taught one year full-time or a total of 30 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited community college is exempt from taking the EDU250 Overview of the Community College Course.
Your materials will be filed with the appropriate division secretary. When the need arises for part-time instructors in a given subject, the division chair will review the file of candidates who have indicated an interest and contact people for further discussion about the possibilities.
Full-Time Positions
The Maricopa Community College District Employment Department handles all of the processing for full-time positions within the Maricopa Colleges, including Chandler Gilbert Community College. However, when certain full time positions become available, this webpage will try to offer information from which a potential job candidate can become more aware of the job requirements and job environment.
