Chandler-Gilbert Community College is committed to an ethic of responsible stewardship in all of our activities. CGCC strives to integrate environmental awareness and sustainability into our college operations as well as the educational experience of our students.
As a college we are dedicated to leading by example, examining the environmental impacts associated with all that we do in order to continually improve our college, students, and community, while minimizing our impact on the environment.
As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability, CGCC was a charter signatory to the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment. By signing the commitment, CGCC has pledged to eliminate or offset all campus greenhouse gas emissions over time, and in the process, lead the transition to a sustainable economy.
CGCC was also one of four colleges nationwide to receive the 2007 Campus Sustainability Leadership Award in the category of two year institutions. Presented by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the award recognizes institutions that have demonstrated an outstanding overall commitment to sustainability in their governance and administration, curriculum and research, operations, campus culture, and community outreach.
