Gila River Review

Arise the Knowledge

“Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem;…”

Isaiah 52:2

You seek for light in a world without trust,

And reach for the sun like hands of a tree.

Grow up to knowledge, Child.  Forsake the dust.

Some say, “God is here!  So listen, you must,”

Raising men up with their philosophies.

You seek for light in a world without trust.

They profess to know God by filling their lust

And dragging you down towards their folly.

Grow up to knowledge, Child.  Forsake the dust.

Doctrines of men to the world always thrust,

Living for laud and loving words, not beliefs.

You seek for light in a world without trust.

But the substance of faith is alive in the just,

Blessing the blinded overtaxed to see.

Grow up to knowledge, Child.  Forsake the dust.

Looking up from dry ground seeking the just,

Children crawl before they stand and run free.

You seek for light in a world without trust.

Arise to knowledge, Child. Forsake the dust.
