VPN - Windows
Windows VISTA Instructions
Menus and options may vary depending on whether you are using Windows Vista Home or Professional versions and the existing configuration of the operating system. For any questions, please contact our Help Desk at x27025.
- Click Start button->Settings->Control Panel->Network & Sharing Center->Set up a Connection or Network
- Click Next->Connect to a workplace->Next->Use my Internet Connection(VPN)
- Type some arbitrary description such as 'CGCC' in the Company Name field and click Next
- Type in the Internet Address field VPN2.cgc.maricopa.edu Do not check any boxes
- Click Next enter your MEID Username and Password Do not check any boxes
- Click Connect
- Click Cancel
- In the Network & Sharing Center select Manage Network Connections
- In the connection dialog box that opens up, right click on your VPN Connection and select Properties
- On the Options tab, make sure the Include Windows logon domain item is checked
- On the Networking tab, select (but do not uncheck) Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties
- Click Advanced and uncheck the Use default gateway on remote network under the IP settings tab
- Click Ok on the three top-most dialog boxes, which should leave you at the Network Connections screen
- Double Click the VPN icon
- Enter your MEID username and password, and a domain of mcccd-org
- Uncheck the Save this username and password... option
- Click Connect. At the bottom of the screen in the system tray, a new icon should have shown up indicating that you are connected to the VPN. Right-click the icon and choose Disconnect to shutdown the VPN connection.
- Click Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network Connections
- Right-click on the new VPN connection and choose Create shortcut. Choose Yes on the dialog to place the shortcut on the desktop.
- Anytime you need to connect to work to access a system, just open the icon on the desktop and type your current username and password.
Windows XP Instructions

- Click Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network Connections->New Connection Wizard
- Click Next->Connect to the network at my workplace->Next->Virtual Private Network connection
- Type some arbitrary description in the Company Name field and click Next
- If you have a dialup connection for your ISP, choose Automatically dial this initial connection and click Next. Otherwise, choose Do not dial the initial connection
- Type vpn2.cgc.maricopa.edu in the Host name field
- Click Next twice and then Finish
- In the connection dialog box that opens up, click Properties
- On the Options tab, make sure the Include Windows logon domain item is checked
- On the Networking tab, choose PPTP from the Type of VPN dropdown
- On the Networking tab, select (but do not uncheck) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
- Click Advanced and uncheck the Use default gateway on remote network
- Click Ok on the three top-most dialog boxes, which should leave you at the Connect dialog box
- Enter your MEID username and password, and a domain of mcccd-org
- Uncheck the Save this username and password... option
