Depending on the type of telephone you have on-campus, you will have to follow different steps to make a long distance calls
For Cisco IP Phones:
Our new Cisco IP Phones can make long distance calls automatically. To do so, first dial 9 to get an outside line, then 1, then the area code and extension.
NOTE* The IP phone must have long distance capabilities enabled before this can be done. If you have been upgraded to a new IP phone, need to make long distance calls for your job and cannot, then contact the helpdesk at 27025 and we'll be happy to write up the request.
For NEC Phones/Fax Machines:
Our legacy fax machines and NEC phones require a long distance code in order to function. To use a Long distance code complete the following steps:
1) On the phone/fax in question, dial 9 for an outside line
2) Dial the country code and number
3) When you hear a fast busy signal, enter your 7-digit authorisation code.
Each long distance code is unique and assigned to a customer. To request a long distance code for yourself, please complete a request using our
Helpdesk Request System.
