The program includes the three types of crime analysis (strategic, administrative, tactical): gathering and analyzing crime data for crime trend, pattern, or series detection; the intelligence cycle and the utilization of analytical tools such as telephone toll analysis, flow analysis, link analysis, visual investigative analysis, and time event charting; crime analysis statistics for forecasting and predicting crime trends and series and statistical analysis using computer software; and using ArcView Geographic Information System (GIS) software to perform crime and intelligence analysis functions and presenting information in the form of maps, bulletins, and charts.

Geographic Profiling Analyst Training (starts Jan. 3, 2011)
This program is designed to give analysts, investigators, detectives, and managers the background skills to interpret geographic profiles correctly and to make actionable recommendations. Students learn through presentations given by subject matter experts, through the study of real cases, group dialogue, and a field exercise as well as hands-on training with the professional geographic profiling software RIGEL.
