BECOME A LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST

Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) offers both an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) and a Certificate of Completion (CCL) program in Therapeutic Massage. Therapeutic Massage is an Occupational Healthcare Curriculum Program within the Maricopa County Community College District and is accredited by the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy. Upon completion of the program students will be eligible for an Arizona Massage Therapy License as well as being prepared to sit for the national exam.

Program Requirements*:

1. High school diploma or GED & 18years of age or older

2. Take CGCC placement tests & review with an advisor

3. Prerequisite courses (must be completed prior to beginning the hands-on cohort)

  • BIO160 - Anatomy & Physiology
  • WED151 - Introduction to Alternative Medicine
  • WED165 - Overview of Massage Therapy
  • WED215 - Self-Care for Healthcare Providers
  • HCC130 - Fundamentals in Healthcare Delivery
  • HCC145AA - Medical Terminology

4. Contact the Program Director & submit your application for the Fall Cohort

5. Interview for acceptance into the program 

Requirements to Begin the Hands-On Cohort:

1. Complete all prerequisite courses with a  grade of "C" or better

2. Be accepted into the program & attend the cohort meeting

3. Summer Paperwork
    -Immunizations & Health Declaration
    -TB skin test
    -CPR for the Health Care provider card
    -Fingerprint Clearance Card from AZ DPS
    -Drug screening

4. Register for Hands-On Cohort Classes


Hands-On Cohorts begin each fall semester in August.  Enroll in your pre-requisite classes today!

*Not all students who complete prerequisite requirements may be accepted into the program.
