Welcome to Foreign Language Tutoring
|
The Learning Center provides free appointment based tutoring to students currently enrolled in CGCC Spanish courses. Other languages may be available by appointment, depending on the availability of tutors and resources. Spanish tutoring takes place on the second floor of the Library, room LIB228 at the Pecos Campus. Language tutors can assist students with homework exercises, writing assignments, pronunciation practice, and conversational skills. Appointment Based Tutoring Guidelines for Students:
- Students must be currently enrolled at CGCC in the course for which tutoring is requested.
- It's always the student's responsibility to schedule his/her own appointments.
- Tutoring appointments should be requested at least 24 hours in advance.
- Students can make one appointment at a time up to a maximum of two hours per week (depending on resources). We do not schedule routine recurring sessions for the duration of the semester.
- Students are to come prepared with all the necessary materials and specific questions for the tutor. Tutors WILL NOT do the students homework, edit their papers, or give them answers to tests. Tutors WILL help students review their work and explain concepts, rules, and methods that they do not understand.
- Students are expected to keep appointments made with tutors. If they are unable to keep an appointment, they must cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Two late arrivals, two missed appointments, or three late cancelations will result in termination of individual tutoring for the remainder of the semester.
