- To study (independently or in groups)
- To record practice speeches using the video camera and VCR
HOW TO RESERVE:
Access services will put the day's reservations on the statistical page tacked by each room to indicate availability.
- Students
Students can reserve a study room two ways.
- Self-Reservation: Students can check a room's availability by looking at the sign-in sheet posted on the room number plaque. If a room is available, students can sign in and use the room.
- Advanced Reservation: Students can make a reservation up to one (1) week ahead of time by contacting Access Services at
(480) 857-5102.

USAGE RULES:
Students may reserve a study room (self or advanced) for two (2) hours only. If no one else wants the room at the end of the two hour period, the person(s) in the room may continue to use it until the next reservation/need.
- Once made, reservation times cannot be changed.
- Study room reservations will be held for 15 minutes before being released to the general public.
REMINDERS:
The Library is not responsible for anything left in the study rooms.
Library Instruction Classroom:
- No library instruction will be given the first and last (final exam) weeks of the semester. The only exception is in the case of online class orientations that are generally given the first week of the semester.
- Library instruction requests should be made at least one week prior to the instruction.
- Library instruction will ONLY be given to classes with class specific assignments that require use of Library resources (electronic and/or paper).
- Specific class assignments, to be used as the basis for library instruction, must be emailed to the lead instruction librarian, the librarian providing the instruction, or dropped off at the Information Desk in print form. The assignment should be dropped off one week before the instruction session.
- Library instruction is a team-taught collaborative session by the librarian and discipline teacher. Therefore, it is critical to the success of the library instruction that the discipline teacher remain with their class throughout the library instruction session.
- Independent Research by classes can only be scheduled after the classroom teacher has already had their class instructed by a librarian.
- Instructors looking for a computer classroom to use for non-library resource searching should check with the computer lab staff to schedule BA A or B or work through their division secretary to switch to a computer classroom.
Library Posting Policy:
- The Library Bulletin Board outside the Copy Room (L115) is for posting of both Library and non-library materials.
- Materials to be posted must not exceed 8.5 by 11 inches, unless approved ahead of time.
- Materials must be approved by a permanent library staff member and must be stamped with the requested posting date, a removal date and the staff member's initials. The removal date will be two weeks from the posting date unless otherwise approved.
- The Bulletin Board has been designated as the location for non-library postings in the Library. Please do not post notices, etc. elsewhere in the Library. No posting of materials is permitted on the Rotunda walls.
Closing Procedures:
- Closing procedures begin 30 minutes before the stated closing time. For example, if the library closes at 9:00pm, then closing procedures start at 8:30pm.
- Anyone entering the library during this time will be notified that the library is closing.
- Because clocks may vary throughout the library, the clock behind the Circulation Desk is designated as the official clock.
- Circulation/Reserve Desk services will end 15 minutes prior to closing. All materials must be checked out and returned before this time.
- Computer usage, including printing, must be completed 15 minutes prior to closing.
Library Cards:
Student ID Cards can be obtained at the Public Safety Office. When activated, they become the student's library card and are valid for the semester they are enrolled. These cards are required for checkout.
Accessing the Library Databases from Off Campus:
(new process as of 9/9/09)
You will now use your MEID to access the Library databases from off campus.
You will still use your PIN as the password. The PIN is the last four digits of your phone number(as given at registration). It can be changed by request at the Pecos Library Check-out desk. Students will also need to change their number in My.Maricopa.edu.
If you obtained a student ID card prior to 9/9/09 the student Id number located on the back of the card will no longer give you access to the databases, New student ID cards are now available.
District Library Databases can also be accessed here:
