A Co-Curricular Activity is an event or activity that enhances students learning
outside of your classroom. Some examples of co-curricular activities
include speakers, panel discussions, film screenings, plays, musicals,
art exhibits, foods fairs, art projects, and other campus projects,
often student led. Co-curricular activities also include simulations
such as Poverty 101 and Hunger Banquet, which engage students in
specific roles to help them explore an issue. Other interdisciplinary
events such as teach-ins and unnatural disaster, which involves students
from several disciplines in a public policy forum about a disaster, are
also co-curricular activities. The Office of Student Life's
Service-Learning program, which combines community service with academic
instruction, is also a co-curricular activity.
Co-Curricular
Activities are supported by the Co-Curricular Activities Coordinator,
Student Life, the Dean of Arts and Sciences and often the Library. Many
Co-Curricular Activities directly help students learn through work on
the SEE Your World outcomes, which focus on global learning, civic
engagement, and diversity. Co-Curricular Activities directly engage
students in developing in the areas in the SLOAC Cross-Curricular
Outcomes.
