FAQs About eLearning Resources for Students
I’ve just started an e-Learning course, and my instructor says we’ll be using Blackboard. What is that, and how do I use it?
Blackboard is the course management system used by most of the eLearning instructors at CGCC. That is, most of the course websites are run via Blackboard, so you’ll need to know how to log on to the system in order to access your course materials. You can get instructions on how to obtain your username and password, as well as how to log in, by going to the Blackboard Login Instructions . If you need someone to help you through the login process, assistance is available at the Computer Lab .
I’m in an eLearning course, and my instructor says that we’ll be using the Testing Center. Where is it, and what are the hours of operation?
Typically, instructors who require on-campus testing for their e-Learning courses will have you take your exams in the Testing Center. The Testing Center is located on the Pecos campus , in Room A152 (within the same building as Registration). Hours vary from semester to semester, so be sure to check with your instructor for the most current hours
I have a research project for my eLearning class. Where can I look for resources and materials?
The CGCC Library has an extensive collection of online databases that students can access online, as long as their student ID is validated in the Library. Students can also work online with a librarian at Ask a Librarian .
I’m really struggling with the material in my eLearning class. Where can I get some extra help?
The on-campus Learning Center , located on the second floor of the library, has tutoring available for most subject areas for any student registered for a CGCC credit course.
Where can I get help if I run into problems with the technology?
If you’re having problems accessing your eLearning course, contact your instructor immediately; he or she can determine if you’re registered for access in the course site. Most often difficulties arise when students aren’t registered or fully paid. If you’re having problems with your login name and/or passwords, or with accessing media provided by your instructor, you can get assistance from the CGCC Computer Lab , located in the B Building. Students are responsible for their own personal hardware and software and reliable internet connection.
