Start a Pottery Business
If you like making pottery bowls, vases, plates, and other such items, you can make money at it. Crafts are a good way to make money doing something that you are good at and like to do. Pottery has mainstreamed with the invention of places where you can pay a charge and create your own unique piece to take home. Make pottery and sculptures using hand built methods and the pottery wheel. Set up shop at art shows, festivals or sell your pieces online. How you specialize in your business is up to you. Note: Students must supply their own clay. All classes will be held at Chandler High School in the Fine Arts Bldg., Room A908 (350 N. Arizona Ave). Pharmacy Technician Certification Program
This 72 clock-hour comprehensive course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings - working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

Dialysis Technician Program
This Dialysis Technician Program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties required of Dialysis Technicians. Under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, Dialysis Technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, prepare dialyzer reprocessing and delivery systems as well as maintain and repair equipment. Furthermore, technicians work with patients during dialysis procedures and monitor and record vital signs as well as administer local anesthetics and drugs as needed. Dialysis Technicians must also assess patients for any complications that occur during the procedure and must be ready to take necessary emergency measures including administering oxygen or performing Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Additionally, they may also be involved in the training of patients for at-home dialysis treatment and providing them with the emotional support they need for self care. Note: This program does not include a national or state certification as part of its overall objectives. Additionally there is no student internship or clinical rotation offered as part of this program.

Physical Therapy Aide Program
This comprehensive Physical Therapy Aide Program prepares students for the growing field of Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapy Aide is generally responsible for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients working under the direction of the physical therapist. Furthermore, these workers assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Physical Therapy Aides may be employed in nursing homes, hospitals, sports rehabilitation centers and some orthopedic clinics. Note: This program will be held at Maricopa Workforce Connections (735 N. Gilbert Road) and does not include a national or state certification as part of its overall objectives.

Chiropractic Assistant Program
This program prepares students for a career as a Chiropractic Assistant in the expanding field of chiropractic health care through both classroom lecture and hands-on labs. The student will receive an overview of administrative front office duties; chiropractic and patient education issues; anatomy and physiology; chiropractic terminology; chiropractic billing and coding; and the legal aspects of chiropractic care. Additionally, students will review "therapeutic skills" including: massage basics; vital signs; T.E.N.S.; ultrasound; cryotherapy; and other therapeutic modalities. First Aid & CPR Certification Training
Learning First Aid and CPR can be useful in many job situations. In this class you will learn how to recognize and handle life-threatening emergencies and give basic life support to infants, children and adults.  We will also cover things such as injuries, shock and chocking.  This class will give you a two-year certification for both basic First Aid and CPR after full completion of the class.

LEED Green Associate
The new LEED professional credentialing system encourages green building professionals to maintain and advance their knowledge and expertise and is now a 2-step process.  LEED Green Associate gives you the knowledge to implement the many different ways of using less energy, water, and natural resources; creating less waste; and fostering a healthy and comfortable environment of the occupants.  The LEED AP credential will continue to signify an advanced depth of knowledge in green building practices; it also will reflect the ability to specialize in a particular LEED Rating System.  Candidates must demonstrate prior experience working on a LEED registered project to be eligible for this credential.

Winning in Court

OSHA Hazardous Energy ("Lockout/Tagout")
This free class is designed to provide employers and employees basic awareness training in the OSHA standards for controlling hazardous energy and the lockout/tagout procedures necessary for practical safeguarding of employees in the workplace. Free handouts and resource materials will be provided. Remember it is the employer’s responsibility to instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and in the regulations applicable to the work environment to control or eliminate any hazard.
