KT has been at the college since 2003 and is an honored alumnus. She earned her bachelors degree in Recreational Management from Arizona State University and her Masters through Northern Arizona University. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as traveling in her spare time.

Katherine "Katie" Haar has been part of the Maricopa Community College District since 1999, she joined the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Team in 2015. Her current role is Program Specialist for the Student Life and Leadership Department. Katie is responsible for Multicultural and Co-Curricular programming providing experiential and educational opportunities for the students of Chandler-Gilbert.

Katie received her Bachelor's in Communication with a minor Sociology from ASU. In 2012 she completed her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from NAU. Katie resides in Chandler, Arizona and enjoys traveling and spending time with family, friends and her rescue pup Finley.

Alex has served CGCC’s Service-Learning Program for nearly four years and has a passion for building relationships with community partners and faculty to identify service-learning projects that will empower students in their learning while meeting community-determined needs.

Alex frequently designs and facilitates training workshops for faculty, community partners, students and presents at Service-Learning and Civic Engagement conferences.

Before leading the Service-Learning Program at CGCC, Alex discovered the power of service and her love of programming for youth in Pisac, Peru during an 8-week internship where she was working with a team of five interns to design and implement a youth camp in 2010.

Alex graduated, summa cum laude with her Bachelor’s degree in Human Communication with a minor in Global Studies from ASU as an All-Arizona Academic. Alex has received multiple awards from community partners recognizing her work in building reciprocal relationships with community partners. In addition to serving CGCC as Service-Learning Coordinator, Alex proudly serves Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank as Secretary on the Board of Directors and is a co-advisor of the HELP (Hands Enriching Lives Projects) Club, CGCC’s community service club.

Kim graduated from Northern Arizona University- Go Jacks!- in 2010 with a degree in Physical Education and School Health. She spent two years as a P.E./Health teacher for 7th and 8th graders in Surprise, AZ.  Prior to coming to Chandler-Gilbert, Kim worked for almost 3 years at Mesa Community College as a Program Advisor in Student Life and Leadership.  Kim's favorite thing to do is spend time with her family enjoying adventures in the great outdoors!

Carrie Braaten enjoys working with the teachers, principals and administration in schools throughout the East Valley community to provide Early Childhood and Teacher Education (ECTE) students with the opportunities to learn what it is like to be a teacher and lend an extra hand in classrooms. Carrie says, “There is no better way to learn about teaching than to put your learning into action through service-learning in the classroom.” Before coordinating service-learning placements, Carrie earned her Bachelor’s degree from NAU in Elementary Education and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from ASU and has taught for 10 years for Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Northern Arizona University, Chandler Unified School District, Madison School District in Phoenix and the YMCA.

Christina has been attending Chandler-Gilbert since the fall of 2013. Christina enjoys helping people in need along with making everyone around her happy.

The most important thing in Christina's life would have to be spending time with her big, crazy family and making them along with her boyfriend proud.

She plans on moving to ASU once she finishes up her pre-requisites. Christina is very happy to be a part of the Service-Learning team!

Serge moved to Arizona from Cameroon in 2011. He began working in Student Life in Fall 2012. Serge is studying Business Management and is going transfer to ASU next semester. Serge in involved in the Intercultural Exchange Club, MEN Chapter, and the HELP Club. Serge loves working in Student Life and he has come to be known as "Super Serge"!

Kandice recently moved to Arizona from Nebraska. This is her first year attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and she has a beautiful 1 and half year old daughter. Kandice loves reading and watching Netflix marathons. She enjoys interacting with all the wonderful students at CGCC in the Student Center Pavilion!

​Jenny was born in Tucson and started her time at CGCC in 2014. She is the current president of Sigma Delta Mu, CGCC's Spanish Honor Society and enjoys being involved with Student Life in anyway she can. She is not only enthusiastic about language, but is also passionate about art and aspires to pursue it professionally. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, creating new art pieces, and playing video games.
