Student Check List

Wearing a cap and gown is required for students to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Announcements
Students are entitled to 10 announcements. They will be available for pick-up by April 8th, 2013, in the CGCC Bookstore. The phone number is 480-732-7350. Additional invitations can be picked up from the Vice President of Student Affairs office beginning April 22, 2013.

Caps and Gowns
We order general sizes, but can accommodate specific gown size requirements from petite to plus sizes. You may pick up your cap and gown in the CGCC Bookstore beginning May 1, 2013.

The Bookstore hours
Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Honors Cords
Honors cords are a decoration that signifies academic distinction. Students who are graduating with:
  • highest distinction (3.9-4.0) Blue Cord
  • high distinction (3.7-3.899) Red Cord
  • distinction (3.5-3.699) White Cord
may pick up cords from the bookstore at no cost.
 
Graduate GPA's consist of all grades for all classes used for graduation. (A list of Honors students will be provided to the bookstore.)
 
Phi Theta Kappa
Are you a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society?  You may purchase your graduation stole at http://recognitions.ptk.org/index.php/graduation.html.  Graduates unable to purchase a stole may contact Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Noel Morelos at 480.857.5194 or noel.morales@cgc.edu to ask about their loaner program.
 
Teacher Education Reception
Students, family and friends (up to 4 guests) are invited to celebrate future teachers on Friday, May 10th, 5-6:00 pm on the library's second floor common area.  Education majors will receive their recognition cord for the graduation ceremony at this event.
 
Teacher Education recognition cords are available to all education majors "walking" in the graduation ceremony. To reserve your cord follow the link www.cgc.maricopa.edu/teacher and click on the Graduation link. Register there for both the Teacher Recognition Reception and graduation ceremony. You will be contacted individually in regard to payment. Recognition cords are $5 and reserved only for education majors (elementary, secondary, early childhood, etc.) regardless of degree.
 
Reception in Student Center Pavilion
Light refreshments provided for our graduates and their guests. We encourage you and your guest(s) to attend the reception and enjoy the time to visit with other students, faculty and staff. The reception will be held in the Student Center Pavilion.
 
Special Accommodations for Graduates and Family Members
Our event is outdoors on the CGCC Pecos Mall. If you need special seating for any reason, please give my office a call at 480-732-7322. Graduates walk up and down stairs when diplomas are awarded. If you or anyone in your family need special arrangements, or special parking, the Vice President of Student Affairs office at the number listed above. Pecos Campus.
 
Photographer
A photographer will be on site. You can have group pictures or family pictures taken. Payment arrangements are made directly with the photographer. If you would like to have pictures taken, plan to do so between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The group photo of the graduates will be posted on the CGCC website.
 
Security/Parking
For any arrangements that need to be made, please call Robert Everett, Director of Public Safety, at 480-732-7280. Please park in the west lot of the Pecos Campus.
 
Rainy Day Conditions
If it rains on May 10, 2013, the graduation ceremony will be postponed and a future date will be announced. For further information, please contact the Vice President of Student Affairs Office at 480-732-7322.
