How to Apply for Aid

Step 1

New Students
If you are a new student and interested in attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College you must set up your my.maricopa.edu Student Center account, apply for admissions, and activate your Maricopa Student Email.  You can activate your email at www.maricopa.edu/google.  This email account will be used to notify you of any updates to your Financial Aid account.

Continuing Students
If you have attended Chandler-Gilbert Community College before and are continuing your attendance at CGCC, please update your address and phone number in your my.maricopa.edu Student Center account.  Also, insure you have activated your Maricopa Student Email. This email account will be used to notify you of any updates to your Financial Aid account.

Step 2

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). In order to complete this application you and your parents, if you are a dependent student, will need a PIN number.  Apply for your pin at the pin website.  You must list CGCC's school code 030722 on your application.  If you need to look up other school codes go to the Federal School Code Search page.

Step 3

Confirmation that your application has been processed will be sent to you via email if you provided an email address on your application.  Otherwise, you will be sent confirmation via mail. The CGCC Financial Aid Office will then correspond with you through your my.maricopa.edu Student Center account in order to notify you if any additional information is needed to complete your financial aid file.  You can monitor your account on your Student Center account at my.maricopa.edu.  Any items needed by the CGCC financial aid office will be listed in your "to-do" list on the right hand side of your Student Center account.  You must also regularly check your Maricopa Student email account, which is an account automatically assigned to every student at CGCC.  Submit any additional requested information in a timely manner in order to expedite your award.

Step 4

Monitor your my.maricopa.edu Student Center account to view your financial aid award.  Then accept, decline or reduce the award(s) in your aid package.  Continue to monitor your Student Center account throughout the academic year, as that is where the CGCC Financial Aid office will send all communications.

Step 5

Review your Satisfactory Academic Progress.  In order to remain eligible for federal financial aid you must continue to maintain satisfactory academic progress.  If you fail to maintain satisfactory academic progress you will need to complete the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal form in order to be review for any future aid eligibility.  Students must also complete their academic objective within an allowable timeframe.  Once you have reached this timeframe, you will need to complete a Maximum Time Frame Appeal and be approved before you will be able to continue to receive federal financial aid from CGCC.
