What is it?
Common testing accommodation services available to students.
- Readers: persons who "read" to students
- Readers do not answer questions, give advice or opinions
- Content may be read as many times as needed
- Scribes: persons who write for students
- Scribes do not answer questions, give advice or opinions
- Assistive technology (AT): software or hardware that assists student in access and independence
- Performs the role of the reader or scribe
Readers
Who would use it?
- Students who are blind/visually impaired
- Students with dyslexia benefit from auditory information
- Students with learning disabilities benefit from multiple sensory modes of input
Scribes
Who would use it?
- Disabilities related to the mechanics of writing
- Blind or visually impaired students
- Physically disabled students
Assistive Technology (AT)
Who would use it?
- Reading disabilities may use Kurzweil
- Visual impairments may use ZoomText
- Writing disabilities may use a computer instead of pencil and paper
