How to Apply and Enroll at CGCC

1.  Get Admitted

Your access to the Maricopa Community Colleges begins with creating your Maricopa Enterprise ID (MEID) and Applying for Admissions.

Create MEID Account and Apply for Admissions

You can apply for Admissions Online, In Person, or Mail
(Please refer to Important Information for more details) 

  • Provide proof of identity to the college at which you applied.
  • For tuition purposes, verify your residency status by providing a government issued ID.
  • Submit prior education (if applicable) i.e. high school and/or college/university official transcript.
  • Undecided on a major? Connect with Counseling and Career Services.
  • Visit the campus to familiarize yourself with the services and resources.
  • Complete the FASFA and scholarship applications at:  maricopa.edu/paying-for-college.

 2.  Take the placement Test

Prepare, Study and Schedule Test

  • Prepare by reviewing the sample questions
  • Read more about preparing for Placement Test
  • Placement Testing will ensure appropriate level of classes for enrollment.
  • The Placement test is not a pass/fail exam.
  • The Placement Test is untimed and FREE.
  • Bring your government issued photo ID on the day of testing.
  • To review your test score results, as for a Course Placement Chart.

3.  Get Enrolled

Seek Academic Advisement

  • Advisors will help with identifying courses and creating an Educational Plan to meet your academic goals.
  • Meet with an advisor every semester prior to class registration.
  • Ask your advisor about college success classes, associate degrees, certificates, transfer options and services.

Register for Classes

Apply Online, In Person or by Phone

  • Register for classes early to ensure the best schedule, maximize financial aid options, and get prepared for a successful semester.
  • Know when your tuition is due!

Attend New Student Orientation

CGCC New Student Orientation

  • All new to college students must attend New Student Orientation.  Research shows that those who participate have higher rates of attaining their goals.

4.  Pay Tuition and Fees

Explore Payment Options


  • Monitor your Student Center for current balance and pay on or before due date.
  • Explore paying for college at maricopa.edu/paying-for-college.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) at fafsa.gov
  • Explore CGCC website for scholarships, and more.

Admission Form:
Complete the Student Admissions Application and submit with one of the following Documentation: State Driver License or ID, US Passport, or Birth Certificate.
Residency Verification:
Submit Student Declaration of Citizenship or Status Form along with one of the following identifications: State ID, US Passport, or Birth Certificate

Important Links

Tuition will be calculated at the out of state tuition rate until review of the properly completed form
If you are under the age of 18 and do not have a GED or High School Diploma you must complete an Underage Student Information Form to be admitted as a student with special status.
