Dr. Tomas Cvrcek is an assistant professor in the John E. Walker Department of Economics at Clemson University. His hometown is Liberec, Czech Republic. After graduating with a BA in Economics and International Relations at Charles University in Prague, he spent a year at Yale University as a Fulbright Scholar where he earned a master's degree in International and Development Economics. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics at Vanderbilt University in 2007. His areas of research are economic history, labor economics, demographic economics, and anthropometric history. He has written about anthropometric evidence on human welfare and changes in marriage institutions over time. His work has been published in the Journal of Economic History, Explorations in Economic History, Journal of Family History, Demographics Research, and others.
