Dean of Arts and Sciences
William P. Mullaney
William P. Mullaney serves as the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. He works closely with the Vice President of Academic Affairs to support full-time and part-time faculty members and to meet the needs of CGCC's diverse student body by providing guidance for a variety of the college's programs and initiatives.
Bill began working at CGCC in 1999, when he was hired as a member of the English faculty. As a faculty member, he has taught a wide variety of writing and literature courses and developed the college's first online English course. He was part of the team that won the college's Innovation of the Year Award (2004) for the development of MyEport, the college's electronic portfolio system. From 2004-2008 he was the chair of the Language and Humanities division, during which time he also served as the chair of the college's Division Chair Council for two years.
Bill earned his B.A. in English at the University of Virginia, his M.A. in Literature at the University of California, San Diego and his Ph.D. in English at Tulane University, where he was awarded a Mellon Fellowship. His essay on Cannery Row was recently published in The Steinbeck Review, and he has a forthcoming essay on Zora Neale Hurston, which will appear in the journal Obsidian.
