Chandler-Gilbert Community College provides learner-centered  educational environment that supports the mission of MaricopaNursing, a district-wide curriculum with a variety of coursework committed to preparing future nurses in a dynamic, multicultural world. Highly qualified faculty and administrative personnel are dedicated to preparing future nurses for a rewarding career in the ever-evolving field of health care. Nursing students work directly with patients, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals and receive hands-on experience in all major specialty areas in community agencies, long-term care facilities, and hospitals. Clinical experiences are provided in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

In the past 5 years, better than 90% of graduated MaricopaNursing students taking the National Council Licensure Examination passed on the first attempt.
In order to achieve success in the nursing program, students should have:
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • strong preparation in reading and math
  • excellent study habits
  • willingness and ability to spend additional time outside the classroom practicing skills in the nursing laboratory, reading textbooks and journals, and completing written materials for clinical preparation
  • good physical and mental health
Students must subscribe to the ideal of academic honesty and integrity and accept individual responsibility for their work. Academic dishonesty is unacceptable and will result in sanction according to college policy.
The Concurrent Enrollment Programs (CEP) allow students to pursue an AAS degree in nursing via the current MaricopaNursing program while providing an affordable, concurrent course of study that enables students to complete their BSN degree in approximately one semester after graduating with their AAS degree. A limited number of participants are selected from the pool of MaricopaNursing students who have met all Associate-Baccalaureate CEP identified eligibility requirements.

Program brochures and applications for all current CEPs are provided on the MaricopaNursing website.  Currently, Chandler-Gilbert Community College provides concurrent enrollment through Northern Arizona University (NAU).

Please note — all applicants are required to register for and attend a CEP information session prior to applying to a CEP. If the student does not attend an information session and his/her name does not appear on a CEP information session roster, the student will not be eligible to submit an application for a CEP.

Advanced Placement and Transfer applicants for Block 3
All Advanced Placement applicants must score at a 85% or higher in the English language composite score and 75% in math (for the HESI A2) within 24 months of application. In addition to the admission examination, all applicants must achieve a score of 850 or higher on the HESI PN Exam to qualify for placement into Block 3. A lower score in the HESI PN may qualify the student for admission to Block 2. All advanced placement admissions are at the discretion of the campus Nursing Director.
