Chandler-Gilbert Community College provides learner-centered educational environment that supports the mission of MaricopaNursing, a district-wide curriculum with a variety of coursework committed to preparing future nurses in a dynamic, multicultural world. Highly qualified faculty and administrative personnel are dedicated to preparing future nurses for a rewarding career in the ever-evolving field of health care. Nursing students work directly with patients, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals and receive hands-on experience in all major specialty areas in community agencies, long-term care facilities, and hospitals. Clinical experiences are provided in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
In the past 5 years, better than 90% of graduated MaricopaNursing students taking the National Council Licensure Examination passed on the first attempt.
In order to achieve success in the nursing program, students should have:
- excellent interpersonal skills
- strong preparation in reading and math
- excellent study habits
- willingness and ability to spend additional time outside the classroom practicing skills in the nursing laboratory, reading textbooks and journals, and completing written materials for clinical preparation
- good physical and mental health
Students must subscribe to the ideal of academic honesty and integrity and accept individual responsibility for their work. Academic dishonesty is unacceptable and will result in sanction according to college policy.
